Design - Process and Notes

Consultation

The first, and possibly most important, stage is to find out as much as I can about you and your story so far. I want to know all about your desires and goals before I get started.

Contract

Using the understanding gained during the consultation stage about your needs I'll agree the deliverables with you and lay out expectations and costs in a contract. You'll sign it or agree in writing (via email, usually) and I'll request a 50% deposit of the estimated total before I begin. Cancellations from this point are chargeable, fees will be clearly set out and agreed in the contract (we don't like nasty surprises and are guessing you don't either).

Research and ideas generation

You'll pass on scrapbooks or pin boards, links etc. and I'll use them as a starting block to come up with some initial concepts and ideas.

Refining the design

Based on the initial concepts you'll either go with one of the given ideas or quite often these can be distilled with other elements suggested by the initial concepts to create something truly brilliant.

Approval

After nailing the design I'll send you a final proof for approval. Check EVERYTHING carefully including all; dates, spelling, factual information etc. as once you've approved it; any changes, additional work or reprints will be at your own additional cost.

Final invoice, production and delivery

I'll send an invoice for the remaining balance and when final payment is received will; print, produce, finish, pack and arrange delivery of the goods in the case of printed goods or, for digital design; will send you all of the files relating to items outlined in the contract or agreed previously. All should be checked on receipt and any discrepancies or deviations from expectations reported ASAP.

I love to hear about projects after they have been released into the wild. Quite often I feel sad to let them go having spent many a late night / early morning with them, it's good to hear how they get on in the wider world.

Some Key Notes:

- We offer a full design to print service and get very geeky and excited about finding new ways of making paper look good and presenting something differently.
Will passionately take on projects that we have no idea how to complete and may make us swear a lot. Have been known to individually "burn" around 80 invite suites on a stove top to age them. Make our day, ask for something you think can't be done.

- There are no minimum print quantities for standard finishes on social stationery (we print digitally in-house - foiling, screenprinting, letterpress etc may be subject to minimum quantities as these are produced externally) and don't ask you to round up (it wastes your money and is bad for the environment to have cards going to waste - none of which sounds very good, does it?).

- We may send business printing such as business cards and letterheads out to print externally, this will be noted in the contract or discussed with you prior to printing.

- Budget options are available, please get in touch for details (really, please do - we're working on a new offering of print at home and off-the-shelf invites and announcements and are happy to share them a little early with you).

Payment

- For custom orders you will be invoiced as per your contract and monies perferably paid via bank transfer (other methods are available and noted on the invoice). Work / orders will not be created or delivered until payment has cleared.

Shipping

- Is invoiced for as part of your final payment and depends upon the size and weight the goods.

Cancellations, Exchanges, Returns and Damages

- Cancellations are chargeable on Custom Work after the work contract has been entered into, fees will be clearly set out and agreed in the contract.

- Please notify us upon receipt of any damaged goods, preferably with a photo of the issue. We check each and every item that we send out for flaws, in an instance that you find your item(s) anything less than perfect please let us know and we will work with you to solve the issue. Contact details will be on the receipt enclosed with your order.
